Queensferry
The ancient Royal Burgh of Queensferry lies on the south shore of the Firth of Forth at it's narrowest point, just eight miles to the west of Edinburgh. It is known widely for its association with Queen Margaret, wife of Malcolm III, king of Scots 1057 - 1093.

In 1969, for a thesis involving original research leading to the 3rd year, Intermediate Certificate in Architecture, I compiled a History of Queensferry and an architectural appreciation.
A more detailed unpublished study, using local Council records from as far back as 1600's as the primary source material, had been carried out by Dr John D Mason, the local schoolteacher, in 1963. Before that, Alexander Morison, ex- provost, had compiled 'Historical Notes on the Ancient and Royal Burgh of South Queensferry' in 1927. Earlier notes on Queensferry and Dalmeny had been included in the old and new statistical accounts of 1790 and 1843.
A great deal of evidence of Queensferry's history still exists in physical form and in written record. It is the task of the Queensferry History Group to continue to research, record and reveal.
